Another Newsletter in the occasional
series designed to keep you up to date on what has been happening on the
Giles Tribute Pages.
Changes
on Site
I have just given the Home page an overhaul to make it load more quickly
for those with slow connections. I am afraid that in a site like this
there will always be a problem as, by its nature, it is very graphics
intensive.
Having finished that I looked through the other updates and additions that I have done recently.
If you want to keep up with changes as I make them then check out the Site History page regularly. Incidentally that is the place to find and read old copies of this Newsletter.
Another
Magazine article
Collect-It magazine for March 2001 had an article on collecting Giles
stuff. My apologies for not telling you about this before when you may
have been able to have got hold of it. I will try and put the text and
images on the website sometime in the near future.
It did bring in some interest to the site and a few more readers subscribed
to this newsletter. Welcome if you are one of them.
Police
Tie-pins
Paul tells me that he has stocks of all of the old pins again. To order
go to the pins page. He is working on a new
set of three pins which will depict Military Police - I will let you know
when these become available.
Cartoon
search
I still get requests to find particular cartoons.
Currently I have somebody looking for a cartoon that features a salesman trying to sell King Arthur (or another knight of old) a big Gattling gun, and the king/knight replies "Go away, I have enough problems of my own trying to fight this battle". Anybody remember this and/or an approximate date?
Turn
out your cupboards
I am always asking you to look through your collections for something
that I am after. Today I am wondering whether anybody had a video recorder
about twenty years ago. At that time there appeared on the box [in the
UK] tea adverts featuring the Giles family. A picnic, Grandma on a motorcycle,
the family in the garden; all animated. There were at least three different
ones. Has anybody got these on tape?
Good hunting with those
collections,
Steve
